Oh Sunny Days

IMG_0977

The sunny 60 degree weather around here is gone.

And the snow has returned.

Luckily I can still dress in a “sunny” way and pretend.

Right?

IMG_0967

An everyday detail:

I spend my weekdays in an elementary school.

I run around with kids at recess.

I teach basic academic concepts.

I plan art projects.

I cook a snack.

I watch leap frog.

I sing… about everything.

I really do LOVE teaching at an elementary level.

But today’s detail:

At noon I left my elementary school and headed out to observe my new students.

And can you guess where?

At my elementary school!

I was at this school for seven years (kindergarten through sixth grade)

And I LOVED every year!

photo

I’ll admit something…

before I began my observations I decided to get a little “lost”.

I roamed the halls and spent time in familiar places.

Sometimes you need to spend a little time skipping down memory lane.

A Perfect Gloomy Day

My idea of the perfect gloomy day goes a little like this:

Gloomy grey clouds fill the sky, but the weather stays warm.

I love this kind of weather.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about the sunshine. But I will take a few of these days here and there.

Today was one of those perfect gloomy days.

IMG_0972

An everyday detail:

I wake up with an alarm clock.

Without it, I would still be sleeping.

Really though, I am hooked to my FOUR alarm clocks. And yes, you read that right.. I have FOUR.

Can you tell I’m a little paranoid about not waking up on time?

But today’s detail:

I only set one alarm last night.

Yep, you guessed right…
I slept right through it! And so did the Husband.

Luckily we woke up in time to go listen to my Mom sing in Church.

Let’s just say I will not forget to set my four alarm clocks tonight.

A Day Full of Nothin’ But Luck!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
I hope you all wore a lot of green (so you didn’t get pinched).
& celebrated with the people you love most!

It’s been a crazy one! And by “one” I mean week!
It was spring break at my University!
And usually that means five nights of hanging out with the Husband, re-meeting my friends and family that become forgotten (sadly) in the mix of work and school, catching up on my television shows, cooking, cleaning, eating a few treats and just getting things done that I usually forget about.
But this week was a busy one.
And I didn’t get to do hardly any of those things.
Don’t get me wrong it sure was a great week, wanna see?
This weeks details:
IMG_0921
1. Root beer float- My one night of doing absolutely nothing but eating my yummy treat and watching my TV shows.
2. The sunflower market- I love this store, and I rarely have time to go! So I went THREE times this week, just so I could get my fill.
3. City Creek- This mall opens in one week from today and this city is so excited! We leave on Wednesday for California so we will be missing the big opening so the Husband and I decided to walk around and check it out.
4. Hilda B. Jones Special Educator of the Year- That’s my Mama! She was presented this award this week. She is such an amazing lady and I am so proud to call her mine!
5. Thing 1, 2 & 3- It was Dr. Seuss day at work this week, so my two assistants and I got a little into it! Teaching at an elementary school really does have it’s perks :)
6. The Pie- My family got together and went to the Pie this week. We stayed out late, ate lots of food, chatted and laughed.

Those are a few things I was up to this week!

Today’s Details:
Now today on the other hand, was filled with rainbows, green and lots of luck!
IMG_0920
Rainbows- Fruit kabobs & skittle!
Green- Our whole dinner & outfits!
Luck- To be married to my favorite person!
IMG_0915
IMG_0916
IMG_0914
Green Jeans- Ross, Taupe Boots- Ross, Lace shirt- NPS, Black and Grey Sweater- NPS, Necklace- NPS

I hope your day was filled with nothin’ but luck!

Sunday Funday

How was your Sunday Funday?

IMG_0745

Mine was full of sunny weather, laughter, church, barbequing, family, soccer, popsicles, sunsets, and time with the Honey.

Earlier today we discussed goals and why goals are important.

So I wanted to share my top 5 goals:

1. Own a home.

2. Graduate college.

3. Have babies/adopt babies.

4. Travel the world.

5. Save the world.

Okay maybe #5 isn’t really that realistic, but hey… a girl can try right?

I was raised by a Mother who always had us write goals and make dream books. As much as I complained at the time, I really did love doing it. I still have them in a box and I pull them out every once in a while to make sure I am still on track. These days the Husband and I write out our goals together. And I plan to do the same thing with all of my babies.

Spring Forward

Spring forward… it sounds so peppy and fun, until you realize what it really means…
IMG_0699
An every[satur]day detail:
The husband and I cook breakfast together.
It’s the one morning out of the week where we really get to wake up to each other and spend time together.

But today’s detail:
I woke up at 5:00am
Did some last minute studying
Drove up to the testing center at the University of Utah
And…took my LAST praxis test

Luckily, this was my last one before I graduate (in oh, 55 days) and right after my test I met up with my best friends for Brunch.

IMG_0674
Introducing: My four best friends & two of my nieces.
We ate at Corner Bakery.. if you haven’t tried it, I recommend you do it!

Sorry about the last two posts having green! St. Patty’s day is just around the corner, so can you blame me?

I really, really, really love mixing patterns and colors [just in case you haven't noticed] and sometimes it can be a little over the top!

But wouldn't you choose to be over the top and stand out rather than not stand out at all?
I think yes!

The lighting tonight really wasn’t that great so here is a brighter picture so you can see it all up close :)
up
I hope you all have fun springing forward!

I Got Your Back

IMG_0645
This week has been a crazy one.
Hence, the lack of posts.

The main events that took up my time:
- Homework & lots of it.
-IEP meetings.
-Parent and teacher conferences.
- CEC meetings.
- Award ceremony preparation.
-Presentation.
-Trainings.

The small things that got left behind during the hustle and bustle:
-Cleaning our house.
-The Husband.
-Laundry.
-My brain (really though)
-Family & Friends.

It’s just been once of those weeks.
But good news, it all went so well & I am right on track!

All Drains Lead to the Ocean

sis
Introducing:
My two permanent best friends.
Big sister and baby sister.
We are all so different, but we all have so much fun when we’re together.
I just had to share them.
Thank goodness for sisters.

IMG_0491
Mint Jeans, my new obsession!
Do yourself a favor, and go buy a pair!

Jeans: Ross (whopping $9), Taupe Shirt: Down East Outfitters, Striped Sweater: Forever 21, Blazer: Shade, Scarf: H&M, Taupe Booties: Target, Earrings: c/o my beautiful Nana

Do yourself another favor and….
Experiment with lip color, really! You’ll love the extra pop it gives your whole look!

Detail time…
A background detail:
For Valentine’s Day I bought my class pet fish!
The Husband and I stayed up until 2:00am setting up the tank and giving the 10 fish a beautiful home.
The lady at the pet store warned me that when you start with a lot of fish the chances of them living are very slim.
But did I listen? Nope, I wanted each student and teacher to have a fish to name.
So I bought 10, count them, TEN!
An everyday detail:
Every morning when I arrive to my classroom
1. I turn on all the lights.
2. I unlock all the doors.
3. I start up all of the computers.
and then… I check on the fish.
Sadly, about one every week has died, sometimes even more.
We are now down to 2 fish, count them, TWO…
But today’s detail:
I arrived to work.
1. I turned on the lights.
2. I unlocked all of the doors.
3. I started up all of the computers.
and then… I checked on the fish, plural… oh wait, I checked on the fish, singular.
Sadly, we are down to one, count it, ONE!

Luckily, my students adore Nemo and have remembered the line ..
“All drains lead to the ocean!”
So flushing the fish down the toilet hasn’t been so dramatic.

Sadly, not all of our daily details are happy ones...
But, let’s talk details again soon!IMG_0500

A Walk in the Park

Today is Sunday and a beautiful one at that.
IMG_0406
IMG_0403
IMG_0407
Coat: Ross, Skirt: Down East Outfitters, Shirt: Shade, Vest: Urban Blues, Tights: Smiths Marketplace, Shoes: Ross
Hair: Loose fish tail braid
Favorite part about today's attire I just want to share:
The mixture of patterns.
The tights are a zigzag pattern and the skirt is all lace. They are complete opposites, but in a way that's what makes it fun!
So mix those patterns up and get crazy!

The weather was gorgeous today!
We just couldn’t resist taking a walk.
The Mother and baby Sister live across for this cemetery, so we all took a stroll.

Background detail:
I was raised by a singing family.
Seriously though, everyone in my family has a beautiful voice.
And they all love to share their talent.
All except one.
Sometimes my Mom would declare singing days where we had to sing what we wanted to say.

An everyday Detail:
I sing for fun.
At the top of my lungs.
And sometimes dance moves are even choreographed into it.

But today’s Detail:
The Husband and I surprised the Mother at her church.
After church a few of her singing group friends asked me to join in because “we have heard you have a beautiful voice.”
I couldn’t hold back the laughter as I politely declined.
And I couldn’t help but notice the awkward moment that followed when no one laughed along with me.
Luckily the baby sister walked in to take my place.

I hope you all had a wonderful and beautiful Sunday!
Let’s talk details again soon!

A Night Out With The Honey

IMG_0383
The weekdays in our home sneak right past us.
Which is good and bad all in one.
Bad because we rarely see each other during the week due to school and work.
Good because it means the weekend comes quickly which then means we get to spend some time together.

For this date night we drove out to meet up with some good friends.
We may or may not have gotten lost on the way, 30 minutes past our destination lost.
We had about an hour before our friends arrived so we walked around this adorable shopping center, and yes, their Christmas lights are an all year thing!
IMG_0380
Isn’t this Husband of mine cute?
I think so.
We had a lovely night doing three of my favorite things.

Seeing friends and catching up.
Taking pictures.
&
Eating sushi!
IMG_0393

An every weekend detail:
We have at least one date night.
This means NO homework.
&
Just spending time together.

But this weekend’s detail:
We had TWO date nights.
&
Didn’t do ANY homework.

I love weekends like this.
Let’s talk details again soon!
